API, a well-known high tech firm, relocated to their headquarters and laser laboratory building in the Johns Hopkins Research Campus in Rockville, Maryland. This 45,000 s.f., 2-story building is composed of accent striped, tilt wall construction, with contrasting glass curtain wall segments at each facade offset. A gull-wing element penetrating the roof and projecting through the sidewall facades will screen the rooftop mechanical systems. Selecting Tilt-Up concrete for the structural system of this building allowed the striking architectural element to be incorporated at a very affordable cost.
